The Hidden Blog:
|
Per usual, I tend to spend November and December spirally out of control and relapsing into bad habits to cope with the holidays. Crazy shit, right?
But Welcome to The Real life Of Jo lol. Now that January is here, and officially a week in knocking off the dust of 2022, I feel good. I deleted the social media apps again (Kinda), so I can get back on track with this Blog and now welcoming Beek Smart to the Clatchet Productions family! So where did we can we pick back up at? Currently, I am reading "The Sublate Art Of Not Giving a Fuck", and honestly it was dropping gems, but for right now I want to talk about Goal Setting. In the book it made a great point about how goals should have a realistic metric to measure. For example, before My goals for my creative life was to sell 100,000 copies of The Hidden Goddess With A Twisted Mind and have 100,000 follows on Instagram. BAD IDEA. Not because it's not possible but because it isn't healthy. In "NGAF" (Abbreviation of the Not Giving A Fuck Book) goals should be about progress and not numbers. When goals are about numbers or even getting others to like you, it's easy to become stagnant and/ or give up. Since New Year's Resolutions and Goal setting go Hand in Hand, I'm choosing to switch my mindset around. This year, My goal is to simply be a better writer. I want to be an authentic writer for myself. I want to write the things I want to read. If someone reads it and love it, great! If no one does, that's great too. I also want to learn how to be present. Those that know me also know that I tend to be so future focus I miss out or ruin the things that I have in front of me. It was like I was always on the go for the next thing. The next poem. The Next event. The next move. But the grass is greener when you water it. I'ma try that shit out this year and see what happens! What are some progress base goals you have for yourself this year? and if this shit don't make sense to you, go read the book!
